Find Your Self Centred Range
Four ranges. One simple idea: your hair isn't one thing, so your hair care shouldn't be either.
Every Self Centred shampoo and conditioner is sulphate-free, silicone-free, paraben-free and made right here in New Zealand. The difference between ranges comes down to what your hair and scalp actually need — and because every formula is built to work together, you can mix and match across ranges without throwing anything off balance.
The Four Ranges
Hydration
For: Dry, dehydrated, or thirsty hair that needs moisture back.
Lavender-led, with Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract to soothe and replenish — calendula has long been valued for its gentle, calming properties, making it ideal for hair and scalps that feel parched, tight, or easily irritated. This range focuses on deep, lasting hydration rather than a quick surface fix: moisture that sinks in and stays, leaving hair soft, smooth, and noticeably easier to manage from root to end. If your hair feels rough to the touch, looks dull no matter what you put on it, or seems to soak up product without ever feeling satisfied, this is where you start. Healthy, hydrated hair isn't just about how it feels today — it's the foundation everything else builds on.
Repair
For: Damaged, over-processed, chemically treated, or heat-styled hair.
A lavender and frankincense blend works alongside Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract — that's green tea, rich in antioxidants known to help protect hair from environmental and styling stress. Together they work to rebuild strength from the inside out, reinforcing the hair shaft, reducing breakage, and supporting a healthier scalp environment for hair to thrive in. If you colour, bleach, or heat-style regularly, this is your foundation — formulated to undo the damage of today while protecting against the damage of tomorrow.
Volume
For: Fine, flat, or limp hair that needs lift without weight.
Sweet orange peel oil keeps things light and bright, paired with OceanDerMX™ for body that doesn't feel artificial or stiff. Fine hair isn't just about weight — it's also naturally less strong than thicker hair, so this range goes further than lift alone, building strength and elasticity into every strand while delivering lightweight moisture that keeps fine hair healthy for longer. The result is hair that's lifted, plump, and full of life. You won't meet another volume range like this one.
Scalp Care
FoFor: Dry, itchy, flaky, or oily scalps — and anyone wanting to create the healthiest possible environment for their hair to thrive.
A citrus and peppermint blend brings a cooling, clarifying edge that's focused on balance — gently regulating excess oil at the root rather than stripping it away, so an oily scalp doesn't overcorrect into a dry, irritated one. Peppermint also stimulates circulation as it's massaged in, increasing blood flow to the scalp to help support a healthy environment for follicles to function at their best. For dry, itchy, or flaky scalps, the same blend works alongside Leptospermum Scoparium — mānuka — to calm irritation and soothe discomfort, helping restore a scalp that's lost its equilibrium. Mānuka has long been valued for its gentle, restorative qualities on sensitive and reactive skin, making this range as comfortable on a flaky, tight scalp as it is effective on a congested, oily one.
Because hair is only ever as healthy as the scalp it grows from, this range is built to address the root cause — quite literally. A clean, calm, balanced scalp is the best possible starting point for strong, healthy-looking hair, wash after wash. If your scalp is asking for attention — whatever form that's taking — this is where you start.
Not Sure? Start With This
Ask yourself: what's bothering me most right now?
- Hair feels dry and rough → Hydration
- Hair feels weak, breaking, or "fried" → Repair
- Hair feels flat by lunchtime → Volume
- Scalp feels itchy, tight, or oily → Scalp
Whatever you land on, that's your shampoo and conditioner starting point. From there, here's where it gets good.
Mix and Match: Real Combinations for Real Hair
Hair rarely has just one issue, so your routine doesn't need to either. Here are some combinations our customers ask about most:
Colour-treated and feeling flat → Repair shampoo + Volume conditioner Get the strength-building benefits where your hair needs it most (the wash), without the conditioner weighing down already-fragile, fine strands.
Dry ends, oily roots → Scalp shampoo + Hydration conditioner Clarify and balance at the root, then load up on moisture only where it's actually dry — the mid-lengths and ends.
Damaged and dehydrated (common after a lot of heat styling or sun exposure) → Repair shampoo + Hydration conditioner, alternating with Hydration shampoo once or twice a week Rebuild strength on wash day, moisturise every time, and dial up hydration when it needs it most.
Fine hair that's also sensitive at the scalp → Scalp shampoo + Volume conditioner Keep the scalp calm and clean without the conditioner adding weight at the root.
Building a routine for the whole family / shared bathroom → Keep one shampoo for the shared concern (often Scalp, since it suits most hair types) and let everyone choose their own conditioner based on length and texture.
There's no wrong combination here — every range is formulated to layer cleanly with every other. Trust what your hair is telling you over any "rule."
Shopping for curly hair
I'm a curly girl myself, and after nearly two decades behind the chair working with every kind of curl imaginable — as well as managing my own — I know better than most that one curl range does not fit all.
Fine and fluffy, thick and tight, loose and wavy, springy and coiled — curls are as individual as the people who wear them.
So while we don't have a dedicated curl range just yet, I want you to know that our products work beautifully for curls. You just need to shop for your hair type, not your curl pattern.
How to shop for your curls:
- Dry or thirsty curls? You need moisture — shop the Hydration range.
- Fine or flat curls? You need lift — shop the Volume range.
- Limp curls that have lost their bounce? Your curl pattern needs a little encouragement, not more weight — shop the Volume range to lift the root and let your natural curl spring back to life.
- Coloured curls? You need strength — shop the Repair range.
- Scalp concerns? Shop the Scalp Care range, and consider swapping your conditioner to Hydration or Repair if your lengths are also dry or damaged.
And always remember — shampoo treats the scalp, conditioner treats the mid-lengths and ends. Keep them working where they're meant to work and your curls will thank you.
I promise, your curls will love our formulas
